Q1. I'm concerned about language barriers during my visit. Can you help?
We understand that navigating medical care can be even more challenging when English isn't your first language. Please don't worry. We encourage you to bring a trusted friend or family member who can help translate for you. Our priority is ensuring you feel comfortable and fully understand everything during your visit, so we'll do our best to communicate clearly and patiently.
Q2. Why are you only open on weekends and Thursday evenings?
We recognise that many people find it difficult to access GP or sexual health services during traditional working hours. Our unique opening times on Thursday evenings and weekends are designed specifically to help ease that burden. We aim to provide convenient, high-quality care when it suits your schedule, so you don’t have to miss work or other commitments to prioritise your health.
Q3. Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
To ensure we provide you with the most thorough and timely care, we highly recommend booking an appointment in advance. This helps us manage clinic flow and minimise your waiting time. However, we understand that urgent situations can arise. If you have an immediate concern, please do call us, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Q4. How common are STIs in Ireland?
It's completely understandable to feel concerned. STIs are quite common in Ireland, and many people will experience one. While notification rates saw a welcome decrease in 2024 they remain significantly higher than before the pandemic.

This shows how widespread they are and highlights why regular testing is a responsible and healthy choice for anyone sexually active. Many STIs show no symptoms, so testing is the only way to know and get treatment if needed. We're here to help you.
Q5. What should I do whilst waiting for the results?
Waiting for results can certainly be an anxious time, and we understand. Whilst you wait, please avoid any sexual activity to prevent potential transmission or re-exposure. We'll contact you promptly once your results are ready. If you're feeling worried or have new symptoms, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Q6. Will the test go on my HSE record?
We understand your privacy concern. Tests at private clinics like Nassau Clinic generally do not automatically go onto your HSE medical record. We keep private, confidential files.

However, for notifiable infectious diseases, we are legally required to report anonymous data to the HPSC for public health, which isn't linked to your personal HSE file. We will always seek your consent before sharing any information with your HSE GP or other services.
