Nassau Clinic offers confidential, HSE-approved PrEP consultations in Dublin, Ireland. You can get everything done in one visit, including same-day HIV testing, a doctor’s consultation, blood tests, and full STI screening, all in line with HSE guidelines.
A PrEP appointment costs €150, which covers your doctor’s assessment, full STI screen and all required lab tests needed before taking PrEP. We’ll take care of your HSE registration during your visit, and once that’s done, your PrEP medication is available free of charge from your chosen pharmacy. Everything is designed to fit into your schedule, so there’s no need to take time off work.
WHAT PREP IS (AND WHY IT MATTERS)
PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis, a prescription medication for people who are HIV-negative and want powerful, proactive protection against HIV. When taken correctly, PrEP is over 99% effective at preventing HIV transmission through sex. It works by maintaining protective levels of medication in the body, stopping HIV from replicating if exposure occurs. While the medication is free (fully funded by the HSE), you do however need to pay for your medical consultation.
PrEP is not about fear. It is about choice. It can be a good fit for many different people, including those who:

MEET YOUR DOCTOR
At Nassau Clinic, your PrEP consultation is led by Dr. Liam Regan, a specialist GP with extensive experience in sexual health medicine. We are registered with the Medical Council of Ireland, and Dr. Regan is a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners. He has completed the Sexually Transmitted Infections Foundation Course with the British Association for Sexual Health & HIV and has previously worked at the Ambrose King Sexual Health Centre. All consultations are confidential, respectful, and non-judgmental.

Your €150 consultation covers everything needed to start PrEP medication safely and legally in Ireland, with no hidden fees. This includes:
Comprehensive STI screening (HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea)
HSE-required kidney function blood tests
One-to-one consultation with Dr. Regan on your medical history, dosing options, and risk profile
Full HSE registration for free PrEP medication is handled for you
PrEP prescription for 3 months
Electronic prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy
Once registered, your PrEP medication is fully covered by the HSE at no extra cost.
WHO QUALIFIES FOR FREE PrEP MEDICATION IN IRELAND?
The HSE funds PrEP medication at no cost to patients who meet its clinical criteria. To be eligible you must test HIV-negative at the time of your consultation, have adequate kidney function confirmed by blood test, and meet the HSE's assessment criteria for PrEP. Dr. Regan will assess your eligibility during your appointment and register you immediately if you qualify. Q1. Is my consultation completely private?
Yes. All appointments are strictly confidential. We do not share your records with any third party without your explicit consent.
Q2. How quickly can I get my free PrEP medication after my appointment?
If you meet HSE criteria, we register you immediately. Your electronic prescription is issued as soon as your laboratory results are confirmed. You can collect your medication from your chosen pharmacy anywhere in Ireland.
Q3. Is PrEP safe?
Yes. PrEP is a HIV prevention medicine for people who do not have HIV. When taken correctly, it reduces the risk of getting HIV by about 99%. It is approved by the HSE and used worldwide. Most people have no or only mild, temporary side effects. We will carry out routine checks to make sure it is safe for you.
Q4. I'm not sure if I need PrEP. Should I still book?
Yes. The consultation is designed in part to help you make that decision with qualified medical guidance. Dr. Regan will review your circumstances and advise whether PrEP is the right option for you. You can also use our two-minute eligibility checker before booking.
Q5. Are you open on weekdays?
Nassau Clinic holds afternoon and evening appointments on Thursdays in addition to full weekend availability on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am.
